Fried Fish Soup

This is one of the last fishing villages on the north Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Just a few families live here.  The Shabla municipality allowed them to build their cabins and sell their catch but kept the land unregulated, which makes building and owning property illegal. They still get electricity and water bills. Their existence is vulnerable to political changes, EU restrictions en who knows...
Perhaps one day a new coast resort will stand on this place, selling the ‘idea’ of luxury close to nature but until then – this is the hard live in a virgin area, where man depends on the environment but doesn’t shape it.
This is not a place of beauty. It is not exotic in the romantic sense of the word. It is one of those places, where modernity came later. Progress happens around it and God, not technology - is the leading force.
